But when the third and fourth issues start selling out it seems to me that they just aren't printing enough. If they were doing their old "print to order" routine that'd be fine - but they're not so why then are they JUST printing enough so that they can say things like "The fourth straight issue to sell out!" when they actually could have sold MORE copies if they had just PRINTED more.-Brian I think this is actually a bad thing. Stephen Wacker Marvel been reprinting them and they still been selling out.#1 one what the fourth printing now? (I've never heard of an ongoing going through more then three printings) That's the point though. They're underprinting the reprints so that they can print another one and say. "Look! It's sold out AGAIN! You really have to buy this book! It's hot!"DC did the same thing with Sinestro Corps Special #1 which also went to a fourth printing.-Brian I think this is actually a bad thing. I get ONE issue selling out. I get a SECOND issue selling out. But when the third and fourth issues start selling out it seems to me that they just aren't printing enough. Marvel's going to sell whatever amount of copies a retailer is going to order anyway but to the retailers benefit they'll have less copies left over which should lead to a steady selling of the book by regulating orders based on demand. I will say that it's pretty underhanded from a marketing standpoint. __________________My profile"To distill the essence of superhero comics the leads can't be aware of the absurdity. If Fin Fang Foom is going to put you in his pants the characters have to evince an almost operatic fear of in fact being put into Fin Fang Foom's pants."- Warren Ellis I think this is actually a bad thing. If they were doing their old "print to order" routine that'd be fine - but they're not so why then are they JUST printing enough so that they can say things like "The fourth straight issue to sell out!" when they actually could have sold MORE copies if they had just PRINTED more.-Brian That's what I thought when I saw this thread. Marvel is not printing enough in the first place & marketing the "sell out" to be something that it is not. "I too in a way for innocence lost. I thought my past had made me hard. As deadly in my own way as Wolverine. But this is how I was born. My life merely served to temper & hone the steel that already existed."--Psylocke. Oh yeah it's selling quite well. I'm sure. I'm just saying that they're intentionally not printing enough copies to meet the demand they know will be there for two reasons:1. To force retailers to increase their orders (Marvel - heck. MOST companies - love to shift the burden to the retailers)2. To get the nice "buzz" of an announcement of a sell out. A better thread if someone wanted to celebrate the success of Thor is to do what you mentioned - "Thor #4 the fourth straight issue to sell over 100,000 copies!" That's at least something tangible. Basically the only time a book "selling out" is actually a cause for "celebration" is when the company honestly did not expect to sell all their copies like most independent comic companies.-Brian Did you know 100,000 units would be a reason to cancel a comic book between the 1960's-1990's? Then this would be considered a low unit for a comic. Today. 100,000 units is considered a success. "I too in a way for innocence lost. I thought my past had made me hard. Right that was his point. That they're printing a high amount for a comic nowadays. And he's right in that Thor IS selling well - this is not the case of a poor-selling comic "selling out" but selling very few copies.-Brian Did you know 100,000 units would be a reason to cancel a comic book between the 1960's-1990's? "Darryl Carter - Looking Straight Ahead" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-03 21:50:12

I love my soul served up with a Southern flavour and as Southern Soul hasn’t been on the menu for a while here I thought it was high time I put that alter. (Hey. I’m starting to sound like !)Willie Mitchell and the Hi crowd developed their own unique sound in the Seventies. Some people may say that it was only about Al color and perhaps. Ann Peebles that the songs could sound derivative and condemn tracks recorded by other artists on the label as essentially no more than Al Green cast offs. I evaluate that’s unfair and I certainly don’t subscribe to that view. Darryl Carter is a name you may not be familiar with. You can sight a picture of him. His musical career had begun as a recording design in the 60s. As the 60s ended and the 70s began he would forge a writing partnership with Bobby Womack and record solo a handful of singles with labels including Venture. Perception and TTC. At Hi “Looking Straight Ahead” would appear to be his only outing. In the main however it would appear has was essentially a “backroom” man as engineer producer and writer We can often locate a time in the past and what we were doing by recalling a hit or popular record of the time. So I ordain have in mind approve to Al and Ann to place Darryl Carter’s Hi hit in time and understand I’m not belittling Darryl Carter’s single by doing this. “Looking Straight Ahead” was nine singles later than Al Green’s “Call Me” and four before Ann Peebles “I Can’t Stand The Rain” in the Hi catalog. I certainly wouldn’t have been aware of this single’s existence at the measure. In the UK London released a fair number of singles from the Hi catalog but didn’t often venture beyond the big names. I haven’t tracked down a UK London discography but I’m sure Darryl wouldn’t undergo appeared. I found a low rate mp3 of this track on a Japanese site some months ago and liked it – a lot. So it was that I subsequently secured my own write via some edigging. And so it is that the wonderful sound of Hi soul continues to make the heart skip a defeat today. Hey. Darcy -- Never heard this one before but it's a good one! I do love the Hi appear no matter who's singing. (Of course the early Al Green stuff puts me back on a long-ago campus. .) Thanks for this and for all the cram you overlap. Keep on keepin' on! Music posted here I have bought and gained much pleasure from listening to down the years. So in the spirit of an 'all back to exploit' it's time to share it. DISCLAIMER: If you hear something you like I urge you to seek it out and purchase it in your format of choice. "Sampras Beats Federer in Straight Sets" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 22:38:35

“…Sampras never faced a break point and converted one of two against his opponent as he handed Federer a 7-6 (8). 6-4 blackball at the Venetian Macao arena wrapping up a three-match Asian exhibition series between the two tennis greats.” Pete Sampras is retired. He is ten years older than Roger Federer. He is not playing competitive tennis at Federer’s aim and has not been for many years. Yet Pete Sampras was able to win against Roger Federer. It is just remarkable. Perhaps Pete Sampras is a Green Bay Packers / fan… All Comments and Trackbacks are moderated (unless you're a ). "Advertlets response: Straight from Josh Lim" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-04 02:49:24

In my. I mentioned that my Advertlets earnings slowed down to an almost frozen state. I didn't to get their attention but to my surprise. I immediately received a comment from Josh Lim of Advertlets. He was quick to say that they have checked my account and said "it appears to be fine." He continued by giving some tips on which ads to lay to optimize my earnings:- Installing the 165x240 sidebar ad higher up the page. We noticed it is installed quite low down the page.- Installing the 336x280 ad instead of the 180x150 ad (more ads available for the 336x280 change). The 336x280 format goes best after posts. He said the majority of earnings would go from Malaysian/Singaporean merchandise at the moment. I'm sure he's referring to the upcoming. I just wish we can all benefit from them. Thanks for the quick response Josh! nice to see another DO FOLLOW blog like my communicate. Why dont you use the Do go Badge which will back up more commentors..?? I'm your ordinary Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) going for my 3rd not-so-ordinary year in Singapore.

Determined to be back at the Class 2-1A express championship game the Redmen hooked up Saturday with a aggroup that has also made Hays a home away from home of sorts. Pittsburg/St. Mary's-Colgan. Staying true to its dominant create in 2007. Smith Center rolled over the Panthers. 40-14 claimed the 2-1A express crown and pushed its unbeaten move to 54 games just 12 away from the record held by Colgan. It was the first time the Redmen had found themselves trailing all season. "Sometimes it's hard to get create from raw material for a bet like this,"¬Â Barta said. "But we had to act and the kids stepped up and responded well."The title was the seventh overall for the school and the fourth straight in 2-1A where the Redmen undergo yet to suffer a bet since dropping down from 3A four seasons ago. "I am just really happy they let me be a part of it,"¬Â Barta added. "They are such a great group of young men."Following the game's opening advance.
